What is DHI?

DHI stands for “Direct Hair Implantation”. In this method, the grafts are first extracted and then directly implanted without any intermediate steps. In the other methods, the implantation is done in two steps: microincisions and implantation. With this new method it is possible to reach these two points in one go thanks to this special pencil (CHOI). For this reason, this implantation technique is also called “Choi method”.

The process of DHI hair transplantation

Extraction (collection) of the grafts
Channeling and simultaneous implantation of the grafts

A distinctive feature of the FUE method is that the hair follicles can be transplanted with an extremely high esthetic success rate. In the FUE method, the follicles are extracted one by one through the rotating nozzles.

This allows the follicles to be extracted with minimal distortion.

For maximum success, it is important to properly determine the diameter of the nozzle according to the length of each follicular unit. It is best to use a diameter of 0.7 mm to 0.9 mm, depending on the number of hairs in the graft. The hygiene of the needles as well as their single use are elements that have a significant impact on the success of the operation. Another important point is the precise extraction of the follicles to avoid damage.

Treatment Summary

Implantation of grafts

During hair transplantation with the Choi Implanter, technicians transfer the extracted grafts into the pen of the implanter. The grafts are transferred with precision into the needle at the end of the implantation pen to be given to the specialized expert.

Then the specialist inserts the needle into the scalp at a precise angle of 40-45 degrees, makes the canalization and then implants the graft by pressing the plunger.
